February 7 to 29
Watercolour Country is a survey exhibition of works by artist, Ruth Champion, celebrating her passion for watercolour and love of the New Zealand landscape.
Ruth Champion has been creative for her whole life but seriously took up painting in the 1980s. She has worked with oils and pastels, but preferred media is watercolour for the fact that "it is instant...you can do all sorts of things with watercolour that you can't do with any other media." Ruth has lived in the country her whole life, surrounded by beautiful scenery which she captures in her artworks.
Each year, the Feilding and District Art Society recognises one of its Life Members with an exhibition dedicated to their work. Our Life Members are those individuals who have made a significant contribution to our Art Society, and the arts in our region. Ruth Champion received her Life Membership in 2021 and this will be her final exhibition as a practicing artist.
