The Feilding and District Art Society invites artists to submit their finest new works for the prestigious Manawatū Art Awards 2025.
With a total of $6,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, this is your chance to showcase your creativity and be recognized among the region’s best.
All eligible submissions will be proudly exhibited in the Manawatū Art Awards Exhibition and featured on Art Trail Manawatū, offering exceptional exposure to art lovers and collectors alike.
We welcome applications from artists across New Zealand.

Key Dates:
Wednesday September 24th, 4pm: Deadline for the submission of entry forms and fees, and delivery of artwork.
Saturday October 4th, 5pm: Art Awards opening event and prizegiving - all artists entering should aim to be at this event!
Exhibition is Open from October the 2nd until the 1st November, bring your friends and family through to view between 10am and 4pm Monday – Friday and/or Saturdays 10am – 1pm.
Saturday and Sunday October 18th – 19th, 10am to 4pm the Gallery / Exhibition will be open for the Art Trail Manawatū – meet some of our artists and see more of their work on display.
Monday November 3rd, 4pm: All unsold works must be collected from the Feilding Art Centre. Courier works will be returned the following business day.

Manawatū Art Awards Prizes and Entries - Enter Your Best Work!
Each artist may submit up to two artworks, with a maximum of one entry per medium.
Examples of accepted media include (but are not limited too): Acrylic, Oil, Watercolour, Stone, Wood, Harakeke, Fibre Art, 3D Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photography, Digital Art, Glass - and more!
Artwork Requirements - You may submit work in any medium and any size, as long as it can be safely and appropriately displayed in our gallery. For full details, please refer to our terms and conditions, or contact us with any questions about eligibility or display requirements.
Judging & Prizes -All entries will be judged together, and prizes will be awarded based on overall merit across all submissions.
Supreme Award - One winner will be recognised for their exceptional artwork. - $2,000
Youth Award** - Artists must be aged 15 to 21, this award may be split between artists of different youth ages if judges recognise the value in doing so. - $2,000
Merit Awards - 4 Merit Awards will be awarded to artists whose work is recognised by the judges as being conceptually and/or technically outstanding amongst others in their medium. - $500 each

Full Terms and Conditions
An entry fee of $25 for non-members and $20.00 for members (incl. GST) applies for each artwork entered, or $5 for artworks entered into the youth category. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition.
A limit of two artworks may be submitted by each artist, with no more than one entry in any media/medium.
Artworks must be submitted ready for display. Works to be hung should have D-rings and cord positioned in the top third of the frame or canvas.
All artworks must have a clearly printed swing tag securely attached to the back, detailing:

Freestanding artworks must be suitable for display on a plinth (no floor-mounted work) and be accompanied by any supports or stands required for presentation.
Any specific installation requirements should be included in the application form. The Feilding and District Art Society will adhere to these where possible but may be limited by wall or floor space.
All artworks must be original and not previously exhibited in the Manawatu region. Images used without the copyright holder’s permission, or produced in a class, are ineligible for display.
Couriered entries must be delivered in re-useable packaging with return postage paid. If suitable return packaging is not provided, it will be the artist’s responsibility to arrange an alternative method of collection.
Whilst the Society will take all reasonable care when handling artworks, it is the responsibility of the artist to insure their work.
Artworks submitted must be delivered to 104 Manchester Street, Feilding, by the entry deadline and remain there for the duration of the exhibition.
All Artworks must be for sale. Artworks submitted will be sold exclusively through the Feilding and District Art Society. During the exhibition, these artworks cannot be available for sale elsewhere.
The Society reserves the right to photograph and reproduce artwork images and artist biographies for promotional purposes before, during, and after the exhibition.
The Feilding and District Art Society collects commission on all artwork sales: 30% for members of the Feilding and District Art Society and 40% for non-members. Artwork pricing must include commission.
Artwork sales will be communicated on the last day of the month in which the work was sold, and net sales proceeds debited into the artist’s nominated bank account by the 20th of the following month.
All taxation and GST liabilities are the responsibility of the artist.
All unsold artworks must be collected at 4pm on Monday November the 3rd. The Feilding and District Art Society takes no responsibility for damage or loss to artworks collected after this date.
The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to sell works on layby. Where this is the case, artists will receive payment for net sales once the artwork has been paid for in full.
All works accepted for display will be eligible for prize monies. Judges reserve the right to not award a prize in any given category.
Judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
Prize monies awarded at the opening ceremony will be debited into winners’ bank accounts on the next business day.
The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to exclude from display, with no refund issued, any artworks which:
Cannot be accommodated due to inadequate wall or floor space;
Display themes or images which it deems offensive.

Youth Award - Additional Terms and Conditions:
Entry for the Youth Award, is subject to an entry fee of $5 (incl. GST) for each artwork entered. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition.
Youth must be between the ages of 15 – 21 years on the date of judging.
The winner(s) of the Youth Award will be required to submit a one-page essay within one month of receiving their prize, to be used for promotional and accountability purposes. The essay must address how the recipient intends to use their funds, and the expected impact of the prize on their creative practice.
